Education Background
Xing Chaozhu, a cotton breeder by training, received his BA degree in Agronomy (1991) from the Huazhong Agricultural University of Wuhan, China, and his MS degree(1999) and PhD(2005) in Crop Genetics and breeding from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing, China.

Research Area
He is the chief scientist of the cotton heterosis research in Cotton Research Institute, CAAS,and the leader of the team of cotton heterosis research. The team is made up of 12 researchers, and its main task is to research the mechanism of cotton heterosis and the technique of simplified hybrid seed production.

He is responsible for the Transgenic Cotton Hybrid Breeding Special Projects that led to the great development and achievement in the area of transgenic cotton heterosis. He bred 8 cotton hybrids, and won 6 awards including the second prize of the National Scientific and Technology Progress and the first prize of Provincial Scientific and Technology Progress. He is excellent talent of Agricultural Scientific Research and New Century Talents Project, provincial graded expert, and enjoyed special government allowance.
