Education Background
Wuwei Ye, a cotton biologist and geneticist by training, received his BSc degree in Agronomy (1990) from Zhejiang Agricultural University (Zhejiang University, now) of Hangzhou, China, his MS degree in Plant Genetic Breeding (2001) from the Graduate College of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Beijing, China and his PhD degree in Plant Genetic Breeding (2007) from the Graduate College of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Beijing, China. He experienced the Post-doctoral Research Fellow (2009) in Agricultural Research Service of US Department of Agriculture, College Station, TX, USA.

Research Area

Dr.Wuwei Ye, Deputy Director of the administrator department of State Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology, and Deputy Director of cotton germplasm department of Institute of Cotton Research (ICR), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Anyang, Henan, China, is a member of International Cotton Genome Initiative (ICGI).

He is the group leader of the cotton germplasm identification, innovation and biodiversity research, which focusing on resistant on cotton germplasm, such as the genetics, molecular genetic research and gene expression. Since 1990,he has been engaged in cotton germplasm resistance, such as salt resistance, drought resistance identification, resistance of innovation and its basic researches.

He was responsible for the coordination of the process that led to the identification and implementation of cotton germplasm identification center in China. Dr. Ye Wuwei was also visiting scientist at cotton germplasm research and cotton genome sequencing in Agricultural Research Service of US Department of Agriculture, USA, and visiting Professor at plant genetics in Henan University in Kaifeng, Henan, China, and visiting Professor at plant genetics in Xinjiang Agricultural University at crop genetic breeding in Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, China.

He is the Principal Investigator of the National “863” projects and other national anti-abiotic cotton project, He participated in China-US Genome Sequencing Program of cotton, with the draft genome of Gossypium raimondii (D genome) sequencing initially published on Nature Genetics in 2012.
